I think generally we do care about the team, that they do well and win matches and attract decent crowds.

What we don't care about is the club, the entity that runs the whole thing. To be honest though I'm actvely opposed to my 'club' back home and give my support to the team and management despite them - not because of them. So I don't think the iRoar 2.0 situation is that unusual. The difference of course is here we don't (many of us anyway) have a great deal of loyalty to the name and team colours. However I think that's largely down to the fact the club is only 5 years old. That blind loyalty to the 'shirt' is something that gets built up over years and passed down generations. So either the club sticks with iRoar 2.0 and Orange and over the years it becomes ingrained, accepted and even loved. Alternatively it is changed, name and colours, and that entity becomes our identity over time. If we do change then so be it, plenty of the world's most famous clubs have been called something different and worn different colours in the past - as demonstrated by Manc U fans green and gold Newton Heath inspired protests right now.

For the time being I'm happy to have a club to go and watch and the chance to meet mates, drink beer and talk shit with at football. It's slightly more than that though, I do read any news about the team with interest and will follow all Ange's recruitment over the coming months. I'll maybe attend a local pre-season game to see the new team for the first time, will note the fixtures when they come out and plan my season ahead around them to some extent and once the new season finally comes around will be genuinely excited. I don't know for certain but I suspect many others on here feel the same way (not all of course, but many of us) so maybe we do care more than we like to let on?

Now your talking , hope I am not sounding patronising, but those last comments are more to the interst of the code and the club.
To elaborate as asked As you know, the media struggles to support our code (although here in brisneyland ,its not too bad). This forum is where I would like to come for news views and opinions of the local lads who support the beautiful game and "The iRoar 2.0".
To help develope the game, you know what is required ....
Thankyou for the courtesy of the replies and as I settle in, hope I can be a part of the support. Love a beer or 3

iRoar 2.0. Strikers. I really couldn't give a toss what we're called or what colours we are.

So long as we have a team here in brisneyland, I'll follow them.

Playing devils advocate; but shouldn't we care?.. and that the majority of us, (me included) couldn't give a toss as long as there was football in brisneyland, and indication of perhaps, where they have gone wrong ?

Thats not aimed at you, but just generally.

And that's cool.

Yeah, we probably should give a toss and I could sit here all day talking about this name versus that name (ditto with colours) but really, the only thing I care about is having a brisneyland football team (or franchise, as others are calling it).

My home town is brisneyland; I identify with that, not the colours or 'nickname' (and I am aware we used to be called 'Queensland', but back then there was only one Queensland team).

I think most of us are the same way, support brisneyland, but not the iRoar 2.0. I kind of hope the club folds so we can get one without the stupid name and what not.

and thats how I thought you built a sucessful club. Find out what people identify with, and then represent it.

That way you provide the community with a way of showing its support, not just for football, but the City. By Supporting your club, your are also supporting where you are from. Otherwise you just end up where we are now, watching XI random individuals who happen to all pull on the same kit and, and kick a ball around for 90mins which, personally I find feels a little soulless.

The pride I'm sure many of you have when the National side run out, should be the same pride and passion you feel every week at club level; if not more so.

I wish everyone would stop bagging the iRoar 2.0 and just get behind them. Who cares if the name is shit? Win a few titles and nobody will care. It's amazing how quickly people dis their club when everythings not going so well. Have some optimism for f#%ks sake!

Go the iRoar 2.0!

A lot of brisneyland iRoar 2.0 fans love trotting out the old mantra...

"Oh the local football community should come out and support the iRoar 2.0...."

"We're the brisneyland A league team and every football fan stop bagging the iRoar 2.0 and just get behind them..."

And all that sort of thing!

So what they are saying is all fans in the local football community from BPL clubs down should support the iRoar 2.0 but I wonder how many iRoar 2.0 fans actually go out and support the local BPL clubs??

A better question, is to ask if there is a place for the those fans who choose to support a team and accept every aspect of the club without question and opinion....

and

for those fans who choose not to accept certain aspects, and question if things could have been done better, are being done well, and what could be be improved for the future.

I think there is, and many of choose the latter. The good news is that it's a big world and there is plenty of room for both the sheep and the shepards. Which one you choose to be is a personal desision, eeach have their merrits; but if your after a blind acceptance style of supporter, happy to buy into every bit of tosh dished out, this may not be the best place to find it.

So you're the shepard hey?

I'm not a "blind follower". I don't like the "iRoar 2.0" name either (or the strip for that matter), and I know that many things could have been done better in the last 5 years, but I guess what I'm saying is that just because mistakes have been made, I don't think we should just say "let's just scrap the whole club and start again with a new name and do it right". Starting again and calling it the brisneyland Strikers isn't really going to solve that many problems.

I really want the iRoar 2.0 to get more people to their games, play better football, and start winning consistently. Unfortunately I wouldn't have a clue how to make that happen. I don't reckon it's as easy as many people on here seem to make out. I'm just trying to be positive, cause if I start to pick at all the problems there are, I'm going to get pretty depressed, and there's not much I can do about them anyway. You obviously support the iRoar 2.0, so what ideas do you have to make the club better?

As for XI random people pulling on a kit and running around for 90 minutes. . . isn't that pretty much what every professional football team is? How can we have a brisneyland team that isn't made up of XI random people?

Anyway I hope they do better next season, and I'll be there once again to support them, hopefully with a decent striker. . . now that we've got a decent keeper :) . . . oh yeah and no Dodd.

I don't think you will find many of us who ever said we should switch with the Strikers (many only 2 or 3 maybe 4) as most feel it should be a clean slate with no ties to any previous club so that all of brisneyland/SEQ can feel easy about following a brisneyland team without any added garbage.

There is a thread in here somewhere that has a few of our ideas/wishes/fantasies.

Na, seriously, I agree with you regarding Dodd.

Cheers Aaron,

Dodd. . . now there's something we can all agree on. . . although he did score a goal last season. . . .;)

I checked out the wish list posts and there were some really good ideas i reckon. I'm definately for changing the strip, ticket prices/venue and more community involvement. I think Ange can do i good job (more hope than think).

Even though the names not the best, I don't reckon changing it will really bring in that many more fans. . . I guess it might make the existing fans happier :)

I really do hope to see a cohesive attacking team next season. . . something that I can go and watch without pulling out my hair.

I was trying to figure out what his coaching style was like last season, but it's kinda hard to tell so far.

The funny thing about Dodd, is he's bad enough to become a cult hero. Ronni on the hand is not.

Lots. Shrewsbury away on a rainy Tuesday night in my school uniform comes to mind. My first real experience of lawlessness, anarchy, looting, rioting and epic failure ont he football pitch.
